Experienced Mainframe Systems Programmer needed to design, implement, and support z/OS environments, focusing on performance tuning, automation, and security for critical banking applications.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain z/OS operating system components, including JES, SMPE, and system parameters.
- Develop, test, and troubleshoot JCL scripts, batch workloads, and online transaction processing using CICS and DB2.
- Implement and manage security controls with RACF, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and apply tuning techniques to optimize CPU, memory, and I/O utilization.
- Automate routine tasks using REXX, CLIST, or modern scripting tools and provide on‑call support for production incidents.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience with z/OS, JCL, CICS, DB2, and RACF in a production environment.
- Strong knowledge of TSO/ISPF, system automation, and performance tuning methodologies.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as REXX or CLIST for automation and problem resolution.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
