VMware & HCX Migration Engineer - NTT DATA
Software Engineer
We're looking for a Software Engineer focused on designing and building scalable technical solutions. This mid level role requires 5+ years of relevant experience.
About the role
- Plan and execute VM migrations using VMware HCX (vMotion, Bulk Migration, Cold Migration, Replication Assisted vMotion)
- Deploy, configure, and manage VMware HCX components (Manager, Interconnect, WAN Optimization, Network Extension)
- Perform assessment and discovery of workloads for migration readiness
- Handle L2 network extension and ensure minimal downtime during migration
- Troubleshoot migration issues and optimize performance
- Work with cross-functional teams (network, storage, cloud) to ensure smooth migration
- Validate post-migration workloads and ensure application functionality
- Maintain documentation for migration plans, runbooks, and execution reports
- Support DR and rollback strategies during migration
- Strong experience in VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter)
- Hands-on experience with VMware HCX migrations
- Good understanding of networking concepts (VLAN, VPN, routing, firewalls)
- Experience with cloud platforms (VMware Cloud on AWS / Azure VMware Solution / GCP)
- Knowledge of migration strategies and tools
- Familiarity with NSX (preferred but not mandatory)
- Basic scripting knowledge (PowerCLI / Bash / Python) is a plus
- VMware certifications (VCP-DCV preferred)
- HCX deployment or migration experience is a strong advantage
- Experience with multi-cloud migrations
- Knowledge of disaster recovery solutions (SRM, Zerto, etc.)
- Exposure to automation and infrastructure-as-code
