Epic Games is looking for an Unreal Engine Software Engineer, Character & Animation to join our team in Bellevue, WA. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality character and animation systems that are used across a wide variety of games and interactive experiences developed within Unreal Engine.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and performant character and animation systems within Unreal Engine.
- Collaborate with artists, designers, and other engineers to understand and implement character and animation requirements.
- Optimize existing systems for performance and memory usage.
- Debug and resolve issues related to character and animation systems.
- Contribute to the overall architecture and design of the Unreal Engine.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in real-time character and animation technologies.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in C++ and object-oriented programming.
- Extensive experience with Unreal Engine, particularly its character and animation pipelines.
- Deep understanding of real-time 3D character animation systems, including rigging, skinning, and blend shapes.
- Experience with physics and simulation systems related to characters.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- A passion for creating high-quality interactive experiences.
- Knowledge of linear algebra and 3D math.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with other game engines or animation software.
- Familiarity with various animation techniques (e.g., motion capture, procedural animation).
- Experience with performance profiling and optimization tools.
