Position
The Underwriting department has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as an Underwriting Data & Operations Specialist , reporting to the Director, Business Operations Initiatives.
This is a full-time, exempt position based out of WCF Insurance's Sandy headquarters . This position is open to external and internal candidates.
This role serves as a strategic partner to Underwriting, driving operational improvements, analytics, reporting, and tool development to enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency across Commercial Lines. The position collaborates closely with Underwriting, Business Intelligence, Operational Analytics, Business Technology, and other departments to support innovation and business results.
Responsibilities
Partner with underwriting leaders as the SBU-aligned operations/analytics point of contact.
Own initiative end to end; triage priorities, scope, value, schedule), communicate status and outcomes.
Own business support for underwriting tools: adoption, usability, and KPI governance.
Analyze end-to-end process flows within the assigned SBU; identify gaps and drive prioritized improvements.
Deliver insights via standardized reporting; help drive self-service and reduce ad-hoc requests.
Translate underwriting needs into tech requirements; partner with Business Technology on delivery, testing, and adoption.
Develop and maintain lightweight tools such as Excel templates, trackers to improve efficiency, accuracy, and controls.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, BI, Business Technology, and other departments to drive results.
Lead data-driven improvements: identify issues, implement changes, and facilitate change management.
Meet commitments and service levels; provide clear status and documented outcomes.
Drive underwriting tools creation, adoption and maintenance with documented actions and follow-through.
Drive measurable improvements (cycle time, adoption, reduced ad-hoc reporting, decision support).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, finance, IS, or related field (or equivalent experience).
At least two years in business operations or data analytics; insurance commercial lines experience preferred.
Advanced Excel (Power Query/pivots/models) with ability to build workflow tools and templates.
Working SQL/data fundamentals; able to define requirements and validate BI outputs.
