UI/UX Designer
Locate Alpha
About Us
Locate Alpha is a small, fast-moving startup building B2B SaaS products and marketplaces for real estate investors. We're a lean team that values curiosity, ownership, and a genuine passion for building products people love to use. As an early member of our design function, you'll have an outsized impact on how our products look, feel, and work.
About the Role
We're looking for a Junior UI/UX Designer to join our team on-site and help shape the user experience across our web and product surfaces. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their design career who wants hands-on experience across the full design process — from user research and wireframes to polished, production-ready UI — while working closely with our founders, engineers, and product team. You'll receive mentorship and feedback while also being trusted to own real design work from day one.
What You'll Do
- Design clean, intuitive user interfaces for our web application(s), from low-fidelity wireframes through high-fidelity, production-ready mockups.
- Contribute to and help maintain our design system/component library to keep the product visually and functionally consistent.
- Assist with user research — interviews, surveys, and usability testing — to inform design decisions.
- Translate user needs, business goals, and technical constraints into simple, elegant design solutions.
- Create user flows, journey maps, and prototypes to communicate design intent to the team.
- Partner closely with engineers during implementation to ensure designs are built accurately and with attention to detail.
- Iterate on designs based on user feedback, data, and stakeholder input.
- Help establish and refine design processes as we grow — you'll help shape how design works here, not just execute within it.
What We're Looking For
- 0–2 years of professional or internship experience in UI/UX design (bootcamp graduates and strong portfolios from coursework/freelance work are welcome).
- A portfolio that demonstrates solid visual design skills and problem-solving — walk us through your process, not just final screens.
- Proficiency with Figma (preferred)
- An understanding of UX principles: usability, accessibility, information architecture, and interaction design.
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS or front-end basics — enough to understand implementation constraints and speak the same language as engineers.
- Strong attention to visual detail — typography, spacing, color, and layout.
- Good communication skills and comfort presenting and explaining design decisions to non-designers.
- A collaborative team player and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced startup environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing for both web and mobile responsive layouts.
