What Will You Do:
Hot Section Engineering (HSE) at Pratt & Whitney is seeking an experienced and self‑motivated individual to join our HSE Core Durability group as the Thermal Tool Advancement Developer supporting improvement of the Durability Design System (DDS). DDS enables durability‑focused designs and thermal analyses for turbine airfoils, blade‑outer‑air‑seals (BOAS), and combustor components. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, experience with coding and tool development, a deep knowledge and understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics, and a familiarity with the state-of-the-art in turbine cooling research. A major deliverable is the modernization, improvement, and deployment of thermal tools used in the DDS to create advanced hot section hardware. The role also includes formalizing processes and documentation to ensure consistency and traceability across durability tools. Close collaboration is expected with P&W thermal modeling experts, as well as external research partners, to advance modeling capabilities and integrate new experimental data. Familiarity with the python coding language is valued for modernization efforts.
Support various Durability CIPT and Analytics teams day-to-day challenges in utilization and understanding of thermal models.
