The purpose of this role is to implement the cutting-edge automation techniques to meet the organisation goals of quality engineering throughout the SDLC. Additionally, the test automation lead provides application architecture expertise to craft the automation framework and work towards continuous improvement in the test automation. A Test Automation Lead is a senior role that oversees the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of test automation frameworks and scripts.

Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities
Strategic Focus
- Define and implement the test automation strategy, roadmap, and metrics.
- Establish and maintain test automation frameworks and scripts that support various types of testing, such as functional testing, integration testing, API testing, system testing, and end-to-end testing.
- Responsible for administration of test tools and integrations required to support the test automation strategic roadmap and will implement enterprise-wide standards and process guidelines to ensure effective use of the tools.
- Ensure that the test automation frameworks and scripts are scalable, reusable, maintainable, and adhere to the coding standards and best practices.
- Integrate the test automation frameworks and scripts with the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline and tools such as Azure or Jenkins.
- Manage the execution of automated test suites, monitor the test results and collaborate with teams to troubleshoot and resolve the issues promptly.
- Manage the test automation team, access scope, assign tasks, conduct reviews, and mentor junior test automation engineers.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders, such as developers, testers, business analysts, and project managers, to ensure that the test automation requirements, expectations, and deliverables are clear and consistent by providing T-shirt size estimations and schedule plan.
- Research and evaluate new test automation tools, technologies, and trends, and provide suggestions for adoption or improvement.
Operational Management
- Review and approve the test automation frameworks and scripts developed by the test automation team.
- Ensure that the test automation frameworks and scripts are executed regularly and generate accurate and comprehensive test reports.
