Job Description: Principal Engineer - Genesys Cloud CX
Role Summary
The Principal Engineer for the Genesys Cloud CX platform is a senior technical leader responsible for the architecture, design, and long-term technical strategy of enterprise contact center solutions. This role combines deep hands-on expertise with Genesys Cloud CX and strong leadership, influencing platform standards, integrations, security, scalability, and operational excellence across the organization.
The Principal Engineer partners closely with the Architecture Team, Network Engineering, DevOps, Security, Product, and Business stakeholders to ensure the Genesys Cloud environment is resilient, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Serve as the primary technical authority for the Genesys Cloud CX platform.
- Define and maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and best practices for contact center solutions.
- Lead complex platform designs including routing strategies, IVR/Architect flows, workforce engagement, digital channels, and analytics.
- Evaluate new Genesys features, releases, and integrations; provide recommendations and adoption roadmaps.
- Provide long-term cost forecasting and platform capacity planning.
- Oversee integration patterns between Genesys, telephony carriers, identity platforms, CRM systems, and various analytics tools.
Platform Engineering & Operations
- Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure Genesys Cloud CX environments.
- Lead advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for platform and integration issues.
- Establish standards for monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance optimization.
- Promote API-driven configuration management and automation of platform provisioning.
- Create naming conventions, tagging standards, and configuration governance.
Integrations & Custom Development
- Architect and oversee integrations between Genesys Cloud CX and CRM, WFM, data platforms, identity providers, and third-party systems.
- Provide technical guidance on API usage, event streaming, webhooks, and custom applications.
- Review and approve complex solution designs and custom development efforts.
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure platform designs meet security, privacy, and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI, GDPR, SOC2 where applicable).
- Partner with Security and Risk teams to implement controls, audits, and access governance.
- Define standards for data retention, encryption, identity, and role-based access.
- Analyze and optimize licensing models (CX1, CX2, WEM, digital).
