Technical Lead Operator - Hydromet - BASF Environmental Catalysts and Metal Solutions

Key Responsibilities

• Direct daily operations of the hydrometallurgical unit, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety compliance are met.
• Manage and optimize Distributed Control System (DCS) and PLC logic to maintain stable process conditions and improve efficiency.
• Lead a team of operators, providing coaching, shift scheduling, and performance feedback to foster a high‑performing workforce.
• Conduct root‑cause investigations of process upsets, develop corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and reliability teams to plan turnarounds, equipment upgrades, and reliability‑centered maintenance activities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in refinery or hydrometallurgical operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Proficiency with DCS (e.g., Emerson, ABB) and PLC programming, plus familiarity with process simulation tools such as Aspen HYSYS.
• Strong knowledge of process safety management, environmental regulations, and incident investigation methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, communicate effectively, and drive operational excellence.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field preferred.
