Engineering Manager
Lead a high‑performing technology team delivering scalable Java/Spring microservices on AWS, using Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines to support Coles Group’s critical business systems.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop and maintain Java/Spring microservices that power core retail operations.
- Lead a cross‑functional team, mentoring developers and driving best practices in coding, testing and deployment.
- Design and manage CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) on AWS.
- Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Ensure high availability, performance and security of production services through monitoring, incident response and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS services (ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch).
- Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work in an Agile environment.
