Lead fire‑engineering strategy and delivery for complex building projects, ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act and BCAR while guiding multidisciplinary teams and leveraging BIM and CFD tools.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute fire‑engineering strategies for large‑scale construction and refurbishment projects, aligning with the Building Safety Act and BCAR requirements.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams, providing technical direction, mentorship, and quality assurance across all fire‑safety deliverables.
- Develop and review fire‑risk assessments, performance‑based designs, and fire‑modelling studies using CFD and other analytical tools.
- Integrate fire‑engineering solutions within BIM workflows, ensuring accurate coordination with structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines.
- Manage client relationships, presenting technical proposals, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
Requirements
- Professional qualification in fire engineering (e.g., Chartered Engineer, CEng) with extensive experience in building safety compliance.
- Proven expertise in fire‑risk assessment, fire dynamics modelling, and the application of BIM for fire‑engineering coordination.
- Strong project management skills, capable of delivering complex programmes on time and within budget.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and CFD software (e.g., Fire Dynamics Simulator).
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a track record of mentoring technical teams.
