Software Engineer
Lead the development of Speechify’s Web Core product and Chrome Extension, driving performance, scalability, and user experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement high‑performance Web Core features that power Speechify’s text‑to‑speech engine across browsers.
- Design, develop, and maintain the Chrome Extension, ensuring seamless integration with web pages and browser APIs.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define product requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver on tight timelines.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices in coding, testing, and documentation.
- Optimize application performance, reduce bundle sizes, and implement advanced caching strategies for a smooth user experience.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience building large‑scale web applications and browser extensions.
- Hands‑on experience with Chrome Extension APIs, content scripts, and background services.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, ability to debug complex performance issues, and a passion for clean, maintainable code.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset in a distributed team environment.
