Software Engineer
Lead the design and delivery of Speechify’s Web Core and Chrome Extension, driving performance, scalability, and user experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement high‑performance Web Core features and Chrome Extension components that enable seamless text‑to‑speech conversion across browsers.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define product requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver on tight timelines.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering best practices in code quality, testing, and continuous integration.
- Optimize extension performance, memory usage, and load times, ensuring a smooth user experience for millions of users.
- Integrate with backend services, APIs, and third‑party libraries while maintaining security and privacy standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building large‑scale web applications and browser extensions.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js with a strong grasp of modern web APIs.
- Hands‑on experience with Chrome Extension architecture, background scripts, content scripts, and messaging.
- Solid understanding of performance optimization, debugging, and automated testing.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for building accessible, user‑centric products.
