Software Engineer
Lead the Web Core product and Chrome Extension team, driving performance, scalability, and user experience for Speechify’s flagship text‑to‑speech browser extension using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and ship high‑performance, scalable features for the Chrome Extension and Web Core product, ensuring seamless integration with Speechify’s TTS engine.
- Lead a distributed engineering team, setting coding standards, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and QA to deliver user‑centric enhancements that increase engagement and retention.
- Drive continuous improvement of build pipelines, testing strategies, and deployment workflows for rapid, reliable releases.
- Stay current with browser APIs, WebAssembly, and emerging web technologies to keep the extension at the cutting edge.
Requirements
- 5+ years of full‑stack web development experience, with a strong focus on browser extensions and web core technologies.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js, plus experience with Chrome Extension APIs.
- Hands‑on experience with performance optimization, memory profiling, and cross‑browser compatibility.
- Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of leading distributed teams.
- Passion for accessibility and a deep understanding of text‑to‑speech workflows is a plus.
