Software Engineer
Lead the design and delivery of Speechify’s Web Core and Chrome Extension, driving performance, scalability, and user experience across web, iOS, Android, and Mac platforms using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement high‑performance, scalable web core services and Chrome Extension features that support millions of users.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define product requirements, prioritize technical debt, and deliver on tight timelines.
- Mentor and guide a distributed engineering team, fostering best practices in code quality, testing, and CI/CD.
- Drive continuous improvement of performance metrics, including load times, memory usage, and audio streaming quality.
- Integrate with backend APIs, TTS engines, and third‑party services while ensuring security and compliance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building large‑scale web applications and browser extensions.
- Deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
- Proven track record of leading technical teams in a distributed environment.
- Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, and cross‑browser compatibility.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for building products that remove barriers to learning.
