Software Engineer
Lead the design and delivery of Speechify’s Web Core product and Chrome Extension, driving performance, accessibility, and user experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement high‑performance, accessible web and Chrome Extension features that convert diverse content (PDFs, web pages, Google Docs) into audio.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define product requirements, prioritize features, and deliver on tight timelines.
- Mentor and guide a distributed engineering team, fostering best practices in code quality, testing, and CI/CD.
- Optimize rendering, memory usage, and network performance to ensure a smooth user experience across browsers and devices.
- Integrate with backend services, third‑party APIs, and TTS engines while maintaining security and privacy standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of full‑stack web development experience, with deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
- Proven track record building and scaling Chrome Extensions or similar browser extensions.
- Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility (WCAG), and responsive design.
- Experience with modern build tools (Webpack, Vite), testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for mentoring distributed teams.
