Software Engineer
Lead the design and delivery of Speechify’s web core product and Chrome Extension, driving performance, scalability, and user experience using modern JavaScript, TypeScript, and React stacks.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement high‑performance web and Chrome Extension features that convert diverse content (PDFs, web pages, Google Docs) into audio.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define product roadmaps, prioritize features, and deliver on tight timelines.
- Mentor and guide a distributed engineering team, fostering best practices in code quality, testing, and CI/CD.
- Optimize rendering, memory usage, and network performance to support millions of users worldwide.
- Integrate with backend services, third‑party APIs, and TTS engines while ensuring security and privacy compliance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of full‑stack web development experience, with deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
- Proven track record building and scaling Chrome Extensions or similar browser‑based products.
- Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, and responsive design.
- Experience with modern build tools (Webpack, Vite), testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for mentoring distributed teams.
