Software Engineer
Systems/Networks Administrator for a municipal Water Reclamation Division, responsible for designing, coding, testing, and maintaining network and server infrastructure using Windows and Linux platforms, scripting, and security tools.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software and network solutions for the Water Reclamation Division.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
- Implement and monitor firewall, VPN, and network security policies to protect critical infrastructure.
- Write and maintain PowerShell and Bash scripts for automation, reporting, and system health checks.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate new applications and ensure compliance with municipal standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience administering Windows Server and Linux systems in a production environment.
- Proficiency with Active Directory, Group Policy, and network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell and Bash, with a track record of automating routine tasks.
- Experience with firewall and VPN technologies, and a solid understanding of network security best practices.
