About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and implement comprehensive system safety plans for flight and ground operations of the X‑59 program.
- Lead projects through NASA’s System Safety Working Group, capturing risks, classifying hazards, and defining acceptable mitigations.
- Facilitate hazard management processes, ensuring safety requirements are integrated into design, testing, and operations.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to review safety documentation, conduct safety reviews, and maintain traceability.
- Provide expert guidance on safety standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a background check.
- Proven experience in systems safety engineering within aerospace or related high‑integrity environments.
- Deep knowledge of NASA safety standards and the System Safety Working Group process.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project leadership skills.
- Ability to produce clear, concise safety documentation and present findings to technical and non‑technical audiences.
