Systems Engineer
Design and integrate compact nuclear battery power systems for extreme environments, applying expertise in power engineering, embedded software, and reliability to support space, maritime, and terrestrial missions.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and validate system architectures for compact nuclear battery platforms, ensuring performance across space, maritime, and austere terrestrial applications.
- Lead integration of embedded hardware and software (C++, Python) to control heat-to-electricity conversion and power management.
- Perform reliability and safety analyses, define test plans, and execute qualification testing to meet stringent mission requirements.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including nuclear scientists, mechanical engineers, and mission planners—to translate mission needs into engineering solutions.
- Document system designs, interface specifications, and verification results in compliance with industry standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of systems engineering experience.
- Proficiency in embedded development using C++ and Python, and familiarity with real‑time operating systems.
- Hands‑on experience with power conversion, thermal management, and reliability engineering for high‑energy systems.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to conduct risk assessments, and experience with verification & validation processes.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a fast‑paced, startup environment.
