Systems Engineer
Systems Engineer responsible for deploying, maintaining, and scaling the Engineering Computing Center’s infrastructure, including virtual and physical workstations, networking, and cloud services, while ensuring high availability and performance for research and teaching workloads.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage virtualized environments (VMware, KVM) for research and teaching workstations.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Linux-based servers, storage, and networking components.
- Collaborate with the ECC team to deploy and support cloud services (AWS, Azure) for scalable compute resources.
- Automate routine tasks using Python and shell scripting to improve reliability and reduce manual effort.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and security, and implement proactive upgrades and patches.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in systems administration or engineering in an academic or research environment.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and scripting (Python, Bash).
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
