Systems Engineer
Lead the safety program for advanced Air Force weapon systems, driving hazard analysis, risk assessment, and risk‑reduction decisions to ensure mission‑ready performance from concept through sustainment.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the System Safety Program, providing senior technical guidance on hazard analysis, risk assessment, and safety requirements.
- Develop and maintain safety documentation, including safety case, risk registers, and safety assessment reports.
- Collaborate with design, integration, and sustainment teams to embed safety into all phases of the system lifecycle.
- Conduct safety reviews, audits, and inspections to verify compliance with Air Force safety standards.
- Identify and recommend risk‑reduction actions, ensuring timely implementation and tracking of corrective measures.
- Prepare and present safety findings to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in system safety for complex defense or aerospace systems.
- Strong knowledge of hazard analysis techniques (e.g., FMEA, HAZOP, FTA) and risk assessment methodologies.
- Proficiency in safety documentation tools and safety case development.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
