Systems Engineer
Senior Systems Engineer responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining secure enterprise IT solutions for the Defense Health Agency, leveraging AWS, Linux, networking, and automation tools to ensure high availability and compliance.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage scalable AWS infrastructure for DHA applications, ensuring high availability and security.
- Configure and maintain Linux-based servers, networking components, and security controls to meet federal compliance standards.
- Automate deployment and configuration using Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery and reduce errors.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, intelligence, and analytics teams to integrate threat detection, incident response, and data protection mechanisms.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and conduct root‑cause analysis to maintain optimal uptime.
- Document architecture, processes, and best practices for knowledge sharing and audit readiness.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or DevOps roles within a federal or defense environment.
- Proficiency with AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch) and Linux system administration.
- Hands‑on experience with networking (routing, firewalls, VPN) and security frameworks (NIST, DISA STIG).
- Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash and automation expertise with Ansible or similar tools.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
