Systems Engineer
Senior systems engineer responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable enterprise infrastructure, leveraging Linux, virtualization, cloud, and automation tools to support high‑availability scientific workloads.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage Linux‑based servers, virtual machines, and container environments to support research and administrative workloads.
- Configure and maintain cloud resources (AWS/Azure) and on‑prem hybrid infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, Bash) and configuration management playbooks (Ansible, Puppet) for provisioning and monitoring.
- Implement and troubleshoot networking, storage, and security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, and access controls.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, conduct capacity planning, and optimize resource utilization.
- Monitor system health, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement proactive maintenance to minimize downtime.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in enterprise systems engineering or similar role.
- Proficiency with Linux administration, virtualization (VMware, KVM), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
- Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash and familiarity with configuration management.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
