Systems Engineer
Senior Systems Administrator responsible for managing Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, PowerShell scripting, VMware virtualisation, and network infrastructure to ensure high availability and security for a large port operations environment.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimise Windows Server and Linux environments, ensuring 99.9% uptime for critical port operations.
- Administer Active Directory, group policies, and user access controls across the organisation.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation of routine tasks and reporting.
- Manage VMware vSphere infrastructure, including VM provisioning, patching, and capacity planning.
- Implement and monitor backup and disaster recovery solutions, performing regular restores and audits.
- Collaborate with network teams to troubleshoot connectivity issues and enforce security best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration with a mix of Windows and Linux platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting.
- Hands‑on experience with VMware vSphere and virtualised infrastructure.
- Proficiency in backup technologies (e.g., Veeam, Acronis) and disaster recovery planning.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
