Systems Engineer
Lead the management and support of mission‑critical IT infrastructure for a U.S. military installation, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance across Windows and Linux environments using PowerShell, networking, and virtualization technologies.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux systems, ensuring 99.9% uptime for mission‑critical applications.
- Administer Active Directory, group policies, and user access controls for a large, distributed user base.
- Configure and manage network devices, firewalls, and VPNs to support secure communications.
- Implement and monitor virtualization platforms (Hyper‑V, VMware) to optimize resource utilization.
- Develop and run PowerShell scripts for automation, reporting, and configuration management.
- Respond to security incidents, perform vulnerability assessments, and enforce compliance with DoD standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience administering Windows and Linux servers in a high‑security environment.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, PowerShell, networking, and virtualization technologies.
- Experience with security frameworks (NIST, DISA STIG) and incident response.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote location.
