Lead IT security initiatives, develop policies, and manage risk for a large defense organization, leveraging expertise in information security, governance, and compliance to protect critical systems.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain information security policies, standards, and procedures aligned with DoD and Navy requirements.
- Lead risk assessment and mitigation activities, including vulnerability management, threat analysis, and incident response planning.
- Oversee compliance with regulatory frameworks (NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, DoD 8570) and conduct internal audits to ensure adherence.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate security controls into system design, acquisition, and deployment processes.
- Provide technical guidance and training to IT staff and end users on security best practices and emerging threats.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive IT security experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong knowledge of DoD security policies, NIST SP 800 series, and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Hands‑on experience with network security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, SIEM).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
