Security Engineer
Lead and manage cybersecurity operations for a National Guard unit, overseeing threat detection, incident response, and security architecture using advanced network security and risk assessment techniques.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of cybersecurity analysts to monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents across the organization’s network and systems.
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with federal and state regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and remediate security gaps.
- Design and implement security architecture solutions, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection.
- Coordinate with IT, operations, and command staff to ensure continuous security awareness and training.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT cybersecurity, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of network security, incident response, and risk management frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001).
- Hands‑on experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanners.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Valid security clearance or ability to obtain one.
