Subject matter expert providing technical oversight, engineering analysis, and maintenance support for Navy steam propulsion and auxiliary systems on surface warships, ensuring operational readiness and lifecycle sustainment.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical guidance for steam main propulsion plants and associated auxiliary equipment on U.S. Navy surface vessels.
- Develop and validate maintenance plans, reliability analyses, and lifecycle sustainment strategies to maximize plant availability.
- Conduct on‑site engineering assessments, troubleshoot system anomalies, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with shipboard engineering teams to integrate control system upgrades and ensure compliance with naval standards.
- Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and documentation for contract deliverables and fleet readiness reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Aerospace Engineering with extensive experience in steam propulsion systems.
- Proven expertise in control system architecture, reliability engineering, and maintenance planning for naval platforms.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to perform root‑cause analysis, and develop engineering solutions under operational constraints.
- Familiarity with U.S. Navy engineering standards, documentation practices, and shipboard safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with multidisciplinary teams and producing clear technical deliverables.
