Staff Video Systems / Hardware Architecture Engineer - Qualcomm
Software Engineer
Lead the research, design, and optimization of advanced video codec and computer vision hardware architectures, delivering high‑performance video encoder/decoder and quality features across complex HW/FW platforms.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive the architecture of video encoder, decoder, and computer‑vision hardware blocks, translating ambiguous requirements into concrete specifications.
- Design, implement, and verify RTL for video processing pipelines using SystemVerilog and related verification methodologies.
- Develop and optimize video codec algorithms and computer‑vision features in C/C++ for integration with hardware accelerators.
- Perform system‑level modeling, simulation, and performance analysis to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., H.264, HEVC, AV1).
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—firmware, silicon, and product engineering—to validate end‑to‑end functionality and video quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience in video hardware architecture.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and SystemVerilog, with hands‑on experience in RTL design and verification for video codecs.
- Deep understanding of video compression standards and computer‑vision algorithms, and ability to optimize them for silicon implementation.
- Proven track record of leading complex hardware projects from concept through silicon bring‑up.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, capable of working across multidisciplinary teams.
