Staff Optical Engineer - comind
Software Engineer
Lead the design and development of a laser interferometry platform for continuous, non‑invasive neuromonitoring, driving photonics innovation and precision alignment to enable next‑generation brain diagnostics.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end design of optical subsystems for a laser interferometry platform, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Select, evaluate, and qualify optical components (lasers, detectors, modulators, fibers) to meet stringent sensitivity and stability requirements.
- Develop and execute precision alignment procedures, metrology, and calibration protocols for complex optical assemblies.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (electronics, software, clinical) to integrate optical modules into the overall neuromonitoring system.
- Drive continuous improvement through failure analysis, root cause investigations, and implementation of design refinements.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Optical Engineering, Photonics, or related field; Ph.D. preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in laser interferometry or high‑precision optical system design.
- Proficiency with optical design tools (Zemax, Code V, LightTools) and alignment equipment (beam profilers, wavefront sensors).
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in optical metrology, error budgeting, and tolerance analysis.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, capable of translating technical concepts to multidisciplinary stakeholders.
