Staff Engineer - Machine Learning

About the Role

Twilio is rapidly expanding and is looking for Staff Machine Learning Engineers to join the Risk Platform Engineering Team in Bangalore, India. This role offers the opportunity to be part of the inaugural engineering teams in Twilio's new Bangalore office, influencing the technical and team culture in India. Ideal candidates are self-starters with a growth mindset, strong collaborators, capable of mentoring junior engineers, and experienced in operating highly resilient services. This position is crucial for shaping Twilio's data and intelligence strategy to build consumer trust by mitigating the actions of bad actors and preventing malicious communications.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• A Ph.D. or MS in Computer Science, statistics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of applied ML experience in statistical and mathematical modeling such as supervised and unsupervised machine learning, deep learning, and/or reinforcement learning.
• Hands-on experience developing, deploying, and monitoring large-scale machine learning models in production.
• Familiarity with concepts related to testing and maintaining models in production such, as A/B testing, retraining, and monitoring model performance.
• Experience with modern data storage, messaging, and processing tools (e.g., Kafka, Flink, Spark, Hadoop, Cassandra) and demonstrated experience designing and coding in big-data components such as DynamoDB or similar.
• Deep understanding of frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras, including their underlying mechanisms.
• Proficiency in Python is preferred. Strong quantitative candidates with a background in other programming languages such as Scala/Java will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing products on AWS or Google Cloud Services.
• Experience in configuration management for deploying, configuring, and managing servers and systems.
