Overview
Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly experienced Sr. Manager to join our Data Service team at Mercury Insurance . In this role, you will partner closely with our Engineering organization to implement data technology, optimize technology stack. execute on data strategies, and deliver scalable, data-driven technology. You will act as a thought leader—bringing deep technical expertise, strong technical and soft skills, and the ability to lead and manage teams. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends deep technical expertise, architectural thinking, and operational excellence.
In this role, you will be accountable for the Enterprise Data & Operations function, owning the reliability, quality, and consistency of our core data models and pipelines. You will partner closely across Engineering, Data Science, and Business teams to ensure our data foundation is scalable, governed, and aligned to real business needs. You won't just manage the work—you will roll up your sleeves to set the technical direction, redesign foundational models, and drive the standard for data engineering excellence.

State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:
$128,136 to $252,194 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)
$116,487 to $229,267 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)
$104,839 to $206,340 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)
The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
• Manage and guide data teams with hands-on experience to execute on enterprise data strategy.
• Provide technical guidance for the team, raise the bar on the latest data technologies, and mentor data resources.
• Design, develop, and implement end-to-end EDW data processing encompassing multiple Data Marts.
• Build and manage scalable data pipelines to load EDW and data science environments.
• Automate data operations to manage 100s of pipelines.
• Automate data validation and testing of pipelines.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to productionize data pipelines with high reliability and performance.
Qualifications
Education:
• BS in Computer Science or Equivalent. MS Preferred.
Experience:
• 5-10 years People Management Experience: experience managing, mentoring, and growing high-performing teams of data and analytics engineers.
