Space Flight Software Engineer - Varda Space Industries

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain flight software for spacecraft subsystems, including guidance, navigation, control, and payload operations.
• Implement real‑time algorithms and safety‑critical code in C++ and Python for on‑board Linux environments.
• Integrate software with hardware components, perform hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, and troubleshoot issues on the ground and in orbit.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—mechanical, electrical, and mission planning—to define requirements and ensure seamless system integration.
• Maintain version control, continuous integration pipelines, and documentation to support rapid iteration and high reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of flight or embedded software experience.
• Proficiency in C++ (modern standards) and Python for scientific and control applications.
• Hands‑on experience with real‑time operating systems, Linux, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing.
• Strong understanding of spacecraft architecture, communication protocols, and safety‑critical development processes.
• Effective teamwork, problem‑solving skills, and familiarity with Git and CI/CD workflows.
