Software Safety Engineer responsible for ensuring safety design, development, and verification of commercial vehicle payloads and experiments, meeting stringent NASA and industry safety standards.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct safety engineering assessments and analyses for commercial vehicle payloads and experiments.
- Ensure software design, development, and operational specifications comply with Gateway Program Safety & Mission Assurance (S&MA) requirements.
- Review and evaluate software development, test, verification, and change products, identifying safety issues and recommending mitigations.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate safety requirements into product lifecycles.
- Maintain safety documentation, traceability matrices, and safety case artifacts.
Requirements
- Strong background in software safety engineering and mission assurance.
- Experience with safety standards such as DO‑178C, ISO 26262, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in safety assessment tools and techniques.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
