Software Engineer
Software Engineer focused on PostgreSQL administration and maintenance on Linux/Unix, performing upgrades, patching, and AWS RDS tasks while ensuring high availability and replication health.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure PostgreSQL instances on Linux/Unix environments, applying best‑practice security and performance settings.
- Execute database upgrades, minor version patching, and AWS RDS engine upgrades under senior DBA guidance.
- Manage SSL/TLS certificate renewals and monitor storage, tablespace usage, and disk thresholds to prevent critical conditions.
- Set up and maintain physical and logical replication using repmgr or pgpool‑II, monitoring lag and restarting failed replication slots.
- Perform routine monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting to ensure replication health and high availability.
Requirements
- Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL administration on Linux/Unix platforms.
- Proficiency in AWS RDS management, including instance rehydration and engine upgrades.
- Strong understanding of replication concepts, high‑availability tools, and performance tuning.
- Experience with SSL/TLS configuration and certificate management in database environments.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
