Software Engineer
Senior backend engineer building high‑scale, event‑driven order management APIs on AWS, using Python and Java to deliver reliable, low‑latency services that power the customer journey across Wayfair’s global ecosystem.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high‑throughput RESTful APIs and event‑driven services that manage the full order lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, estimate effort, and deliver production‑ready code on schedule.
- Implement scalable, fault‑tolerant solutions on AWS (Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, ECS) and ensure robust monitoring and alerting.
- Write clean, testable code in Python and Java, and conduct code reviews to uphold quality standards.
- Participate in architecture discussions, propose improvements, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend development experience with Python and Java.
- Strong knowledge of REST API design, event‑driven patterns, and message queues.
- Hands‑on experience deploying and managing services on AWS.
- Proficiency in writing unit, integration, and performance tests.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
