Software Engineer
The engineer participates in the software development lifecycle by testing software and diagnosing and fixing production bugs.

Primary Purpose :
A Software Engineer I is an engineer in training who contributes to software development projects by writing code for production systems under the guidance of senior engineers and direct supervisors. The engineer participates in the software development lifecycle by testing software and diagnosing and fixing production bugs. The engineer relies on instruction and established processes to plan and complete assigned work.

Essential Functions:
Software Development
Writes clean, well-tested code while learning best practices from senior engineers.
Decomposes assigned work into clear implementation steps and delivers working solutions.
Takes ownership of well-scoped tasks and delivers them independently after initial direction.
Leverages AI coding assistants to accelerate understanding and learning and find the root cause of issues.
Maintenance and Ownership
Investigates and resolves production bugs by analyzing logs and stack traces, partnering with senior engineers as needed.
Writes automated tests to validate code changes and prevent regressions.
Participates in code reviews to sharpen engineering judgment and improve code readability.
Uses the team's CI/CD pipelines to build, test, and deploy code changes following established release processes.
Communication and Collaboration
Engages proactively with teammates, asking clarifying questions and seeking help before blockers escalate.
Communicates technical concepts clearly and surfaces risks early to the team.
Works with product managers to understand requirements and learns how lab scientists and clinical teams use the software being built.
Actively pursues growth through learning new tools, technologies, and engineering practices, building toward independent feature delivery.
Other duties as assigned.
