Dia-Stron Limited is the leading manufacturer of innovative and automated modular testing instruments for single fibres and fibre arrays. Our systems are designed and manufactured in Andover (Hampshire, UK) and 90% of our sales are exported. The principle markets for our systems are USA, European Union, Japan and China.
As part of the continued development of the product range, we are seeking a Software Engineerour Engineering team. The role offers an excellent opportunity to be a key team member and to make a significant contribution to our business.
The key requirements for the successful candidate are:
· Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience
· Experience of developing Windows GUI applications
· Knowledge of modern development methods and processes
· Experience in other engineering disciplines will be an advantage
The Role
You will:
· Write code for the development of our Windows application software, including control and data acquisition for a new generation of Dia-Stron systems
· Contribute towards system and architecture design decisions
· Assist with backlog prioritisations, task planning, development objectives and contribute to commercial decisions
· Ensure delivery of your NPD projects on-time and to budget
· Create and maintain project documentation to a high standard
· Provide training materials as required for internal and external use. This may include written manuals, video and PowerPoint guides for distributors or customers, some of whom will not have English as a first language
· Support the marketing, sales, and production teams on software related and technical matters on existing products.
· Ensure software and hardware is kept up to date and where appropriate participate in decisions regarding obsolescence.
· Identify and validate software modifications to support new hardware alternatives in the event of component or material obsolescence.
· Ensure that all products meet essential regulatory requirement for the territories they are sold to (e.g. CE marking).
Education and Competencies
· Educated to degree level (or higher) in Computer Science or similar discipline or equivalent experience
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and external contractors
· Highly motivated and capable of independent working
Essential Skills
· Object orientated programming in C++ and/or C#
· Use of Microsoft Visual Studio development environment
· An understanding of modern software design models (for example MVVM) and multi-threaded applications running under Windows OS.
· Use of git for source code control
· Ability to troubleshoot and fix software bugs electro-mechanical systems
