Software Development Engineer, Amazon Athena Admission Control - Amazon Web Services

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement admission‑control algorithms that allocate compute resources for petabyte‑scale analytics workloads.
• Build and maintain the distributed compute orchestration platform powering Amazon Athena and future analytics services.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate serverless compute capabilities, ensuring high availability and elasticity.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of large‑scale worker fleets across multiple AWS regions.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous delivery pipelines to uphold code quality and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Strong programming experience in Java and/or C++ with a focus on systems development.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and large‑scale resource management.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB) and serverless architectures.
• Proven ability to design scalable, high‑performance solutions for data‑intensive applications.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
