AI Engineer
Lead the design and deployment of advanced AI models for freight rail optimization, leveraging Python, deep learning frameworks, and cloud services to improve safety, efficiency, and predictive capabilities.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and productionize machine learning and deep learning models that address core rail operations challenges such as predictive maintenance, demand forecasting, and routing optimization.
- Collaborate with data engineers, domain experts, and product teams to define problem statements, gather requirements, and ensure model alignment with business goals.
- Implement scalable AI pipelines on AWS, utilizing services like SageMaker, Lambda, and EMR for training, inference, and monitoring.
- Conduct rigorous model validation, performance tuning, and A/B testing to guarantee reliability and safety in a mission‑critical environment.
- Mentor junior engineers, promote best practices in code quality, version control, and reproducible research.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience building and deploying machine learning or deep learning solutions in production.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and containerization/orchestration tools.
- Solid understanding of statistical modeling, data preprocessing, and feature engineering for large‑scale time‑series or sensor data.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, ability to work independently, and a passion for improving safety and efficiency in transportation systems.
