Senior Technical Designer (Gameplay)

About the Role

Epic Games is looking for a Senior Technical Designer to join our team, focusing on gameplay systems. In this role, you'll be instrumental in developing and refining gameplay experiences within Unreal Engine, working closely with designers and engineers to implement features.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with designers to bring gameplay mechanics and systems to life using Unreal Engine Blueprints and some C++.
• Architect and maintain robust, scalable gameplay systems, including areas like combat, player mechanics, multiplayer interactions, and AI behaviors.
• Identify technical constraints and propose solutions to maintain design vision and product quality.
• Create and improve tools, pipelines, and workflows to enhance the efficiency of the design team.
• Actively participate in prototyping new features and iterating on existing ones based on feedback and analytical data.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior technical designers.

What We're Looking For

• Strong understanding of game development principles and technical design best practices.
• Expertise in Unreal Engine, particularly with Blueprints, and a solid grasp of C++ for gameplay programming.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing complex gameplay systems.
• Ability to bridge the gap between design and engineering, translating creative ideas into technical specifications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Experience with various aspects of game development, such as UI/UX, animation, and visual effects, is a plus.
• A portfolio demonstrating your technical design skills and contributions to shipped games.
