Epic Games is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Technical Artist to join our team dedicated to supporting and enhancing Unreal Engine. In this role, you will bridge the gap between artists and engineers, optimizing workflows, developing tools, and ensuring the highest visual quality and performance within the engine.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate closely with artists and engineers to identify workflow bottlenecks and develop innovative solutions.
- Design, prototype, and implement tools and scripts to improve asset creation, integration, and optimization pipelines.
- Provide technical guidance and support to artists on best practices for content creation within Unreal Engine.
- Optimize game assets and scenes for performance across various platforms, including profiling and identifying areas for improvement.
- Research and develop advanced lighting, shading, and material techniques to push visual fidelity.
- Contribute to the development of new engine features and improvements from a technical art perspective.
- Create and maintain clear documentation and tutorials for tools and workflows.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in real-time graphics and content creation.
What We're Looking For
- Significant experience as a Technical Artist in the games industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing technical contributions.
- Expertise with Unreal Engine, including its rendering pipeline, material editor, and Blueprint system.
- Strong scripting and programming skills, preferably in Python or C++, for tool development and automation.
- Deep understanding of 3D art pipelines, asset optimization, and performance considerations.
- Proficiency with DCC tools such as Maya, Blender, Photoshop, or Substance Painter.
- Experience with lighting, shaders, and materials in real-time rendering environments.
- Ability to profile and optimize game performance effectively.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to artists and artistic requirements to engineers.
- A passion for pushing the boundaries of real-time graphics and interactive experiences.
- Prior experience shipping multiple titles is a plus.
