What You'll Do
Epic Games is looking for a Senior Technical Artist with strong Unreal Editor skills to join our team. In this role, you’ll be focused on improving the content creation experience inside the Unreal Editor. This means helping to both expand the current feature set and improve the usability of existing tools. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, an eye for aesthetics, and a passion for empowering artists.
In this role, you will
- Work closely with engine developers and other content teams to identify opportunities to improve the Unreal Editor content creation experience.
- Design, prototype, and implement new tools and features within the Unreal Editor to streamline artist workflows.
- Provide technical support and guidance to artists, helping them overcome challenges and optimize their content for performance and visual quality.
- Develop and maintain documentation, tutorials, and best practices for using Unreal Editor tools and features.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and advancements in real-time rendering, content creation, and game development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new features and tools into the existing pipeline.
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist or similar role in the game industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
- Expert-level proficiency with Unreal Engine, including a deep understanding of its content creation pipelines, tools, and workflows.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, C++) and experience with node-based scripting languages (e.g., Blueprints).
- Proficiency with 3D content creation tools such as Maya, Substance, Zbrush, or Houdini.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a passion for optimizing workflows and empowering artists.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- A proactive and self-motivated attitude, with a desire to continuously learn and grow.
