What you'll do

We’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Epic Games Store backend team. In this role, you’ll join a team of engineers that manages the deployment, scaling, and reliability of the Epic Games Store backend services. Our services are developed primarily in Go and are deployed in Kubernetes across multiple cloud environments. We strive to automate away operational burdens and build software that can operate reliably at scale. In this role, you will

• Design, implement, and maintain the infrastructure that supports the Epic Games Store backend services.
• Work with software engineers to optimize applications for performance and reliability.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues in our production environments.
• Develop and maintain automation tools and scripts to streamline operational tasks.
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure the continuous availability of our services.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our infrastructure remains cutting edge.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

What we're looking for

• Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform).
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes in a production environment, including deployment, scaling, and troubleshooting.
• Strong experience with monitoring, metrics, and logging systems to ensure observability and proactive issue detection.
• Proficiency in administering both Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Demonstrated ability to perform performance analysis, identify bottlenecks, and optimize system resources.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting complex distributed systems and resolving production incidents.
• Strong programming/scripting skills (e.g., Python, Go, Java, C#) for automation and tool development.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
