Systems Engineer
Senior Systems Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting complex IT infrastructure across rail operations, leveraging Linux, Windows Server, virtualization, scripting, networking, and cloud technologies.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain high‑availability server and virtualization platforms (Linux, Windows Server, VMware) supporting critical rail applications.
- Develop and automate operational tasks using PowerShell and Python scripts to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Architect and manage network infrastructure, including routing, switching, and security controls, ensuring reliable connectivity across dispersed sites.
- Implement and oversee cloud services (AWS) for disaster recovery, scaling, and integration with on‑premises systems.
- Provide 24/7 incident response, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis for infrastructure outages, collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
- Maintain documentation, configuration standards, and compliance with industry and safety regulations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering with strong expertise in Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Proven hands‑on experience with VMware virtualization and cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell and Python for automation and monitoring.
- Solid understanding of network design, routing protocols, firewalls, and security best practices.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., VCP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure/Windows Server) are highly desirable.
