Role Summary
Must-Have
Technical Experience
- Hands-on experience with virtualization (Hyper-V or VMware), Windows Server, Active Directory and Azure AD, and PowerShell.
- Hands-on experience with Exchange and Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Azure, Office 365, VOIP, SQL Server, and core networking.
- Hands-on experience with server hardware maintenance, ideally including HP servers and switches.
- A clear understanding of backup and storage, and familiarity with remote management systems (RDS).
- Practical experience using AI-assisted tools, such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude, to speed up scripting, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Working understanding of AI-driven monitoring and security tooling, including anomaly detection and automated threat triage within modern endpoint and infrastructure platforms.
Certifications and Domain Knowledge
- Relevant IT certifications such as MCSA, CCNA, MCITP, A+, or Network+.
- Good understanding of PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, and cloud security, with prior exposure to data centre services, cloud-based applications, or AWS/Azure considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 controls, process, audits, and evidence collection.
- Experience with Veeam, Synology, or EMC for backup and storage considered an advantage.
Professional Skills and Experience
- A passion for helping people succeed with technology, with excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
- Outstanding problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, paired with intense curiosity about how systems work and a "can do" attitude.
- Ability and desire to create and manage knowledge base articles, documentation, and SOPs, including developing and conducting group training.
- Team leading or team handling experience, and flexibility to work extended hours or weekends with minimal notice for projects and outages.
- Bachelor's degree and 8 to 12 years of experience.
Roles and Responsibilities
Infrastructure and Systems Management
- Handle business-critical IT infrastructure, projects, tasks, systems, and cloud technologies, keeping platforms available and performing under everyday production load.
- Monitor data centre health using existing monitoring tools, respond promptly to hardware issues, and help build, test, and maintain new servers as capacity and projects require.
- Perform periodic maintenance of hardware, including PCs, servers, switches, and firewalls, to keep the environment running reliably and reduce unplanned downtime.
