Systems Engineer
Senior System Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing mainframe storage solutions on z/OS, ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with enterprise data management standards.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain IBM mainframe storage architectures (e.g., DASD, z/OS DFSMS, Storage Environments).
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and capacity forecasting for large-scale data sets.
- Collaborate with application teams to optimize data access patterns and storage utilization.
- Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster‑recovery strategies for critical data.
- Automate routine storage tasks using scripting languages (Python, Perl, or Shell) and monitor system health.
- Document storage configurations, procedures, and best practices for internal use.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in mainframe storage administration and performance tuning.
- Deep knowledge of z/OS, DFSMS, and IBM storage products.
- Strong scripting skills (Python or Perl) for automation and reporting.
- Experience with data protection, backup, and recovery solutions in a mainframe environment.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced setting.
