About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and scale large language and vision‑language models for autonomous driving applications.
- Drive end‑to‑end research, from novel model design to efficient inference on edge hardware.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate models into the Waymo Driver stack.
- Mentor junior researchers and establish best practices for reproducibility and performance.
- Publish findings in top conferences and contribute to open‑source initiatives.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent experience in Machine Learning, NLP, or Computer Vision.
- Deep expertise in LLMs, VLMs, and transformer architectures.
- Proficiency in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and large‑scale distributed training.
- Strong background in model optimization, quantization, and deployment on automotive hardware.
- Excellent communication skills and a track record of publishing high‑impact research.
