Senior Staff Engineer - Rocket Motor Assembly & Integration - Northrop Grumman
Software Engineer
Lead the design, integration, and testing of rocket motor assemblies, driving system architecture, performance analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration using C++, Python, and model‑based engineering tools.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the end‑to‑end architecture for rocket motor assembly and integration, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and schedule targets.
- Develop and maintain high‑fidelity models and simulations in C++/Python to predict motor behavior, thermal loads, and structural integrity.
- Lead cross‑functional teams—including propulsion, structures, controls, and manufacturing—to execute integration plans and resolve technical issues.
- Plan, conduct, and analyze ground‑test campaigns, translating test data into design refinements and verification reports.
- Implement Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices to manage requirements, interfaces, and configuration control throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 12+ years of experience in rocket propulsion systems.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python for simulation, data analysis, and automation of test procedures.
- Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering, MBSE tools (e.g., SysML, Cameo), and integration of complex hardware subsystems.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, with a track record of leading technical teams through design, test, and production phases.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities to convey technical concepts to stakeholders and produce clear engineering deliverables.
